In October AMD will present new graphics processor the successor of Radeon RX 570
About the plans of AMD to release before the end of this year a new Polaris graphics processor and a video card based on it has been known for quite some time. Now the sources in the ranks of video card manufacturers, announced that the video card based on the Polaris 30 graphics processor will be presented in mid-October 2018.
According to the source, the first video card based on the new GPU codenamed Polaris 30 will be the successor to the Radeon RX 570. Unfortunately, it is not known how these cards will be called. Nevertheless, it is reported that the graphics processor of the new video card, as in the case of the Radeon RX 570, will offer 2048 stream processors. However, the Polaris 30 will have higher clock speeds, since it will be released on 12-nm, rather than on the 14-nm process technology like the current Polaris GPUs.
GDDR5 video memory of promising new products will be the same 8 GB, and they will be connected to the graphics processor via a 256-bit bus. Unfortunately, there are no details about the performance of the pending decision, but most likely, the increase compared to Radeon will not be very noticeable, about the same as the difference between the Radeon RX 470 and RX 570. The price of the new video card is expected to be at the level of Radeon RX 570 - about $ 200. Sales should begin very soon - between October 12 and 15.
Along the way, AMD is going to release a successor for the Radeon RX 580, which will be built on the full version of the Polaris 30 with 2304 stream processors. Here we will also see higher clock frequencies, due to which performance should increase. It is reported that this video card will be released in November, and it will cost about the same as the Radeon RX 580 with 8 GB of memory.
The source noted that the architecture of the new graphics processor will not change, and all improvements will be achieved only through the transition to a new technical process. New video cards will allow AMD to strengthen its position in the middle price segment, because NVIDIA is still offering only Pascal generation video cards in it, and members of the Turing family should be available not earlier than next year.
