Synology RackStation presented 1U Rack Storage

Synology has officially presented the RackStation RS1619xs + network storage, information on the preparation of which appeared in the summer of 2018. The device is designed for rack mounting: the solution is made in the 1U form factor with dimensions of 44 × 480 × 518.6 mm. The system is optimized for businesses that need a flexible, reliable and efficient storage solution.

The basis is the Intel Xeon D-1527 processor with four cores running at 2.2 GHz (rises to 2.7 GHz). The standard DDR4 RAM is 8 GB in standard configuration, up to a maximum of 64 GB. The storage is equipped with four compartments for 3.5 or 2.5-inch drives with SATA 3.0 interface. The internal capacity can reach 56 TB using the 4 × 14 TB configuration.

Additionally, you can install two solid-state modules M.2 NVMe / SATA. This will speed up the execution of tasks with intensive input-output, including virtualization. The novelty is endowed with four Gigabit Ethernet network ports and two USB 3.0 ports. There is a PCIe x8 Gen3 slot in which you can install a 10GbE / 25GbE network card.

With its four network port design, Gigabit FS1018 supports link aggregation and failover. For accelerated data transfer, you can install an additional 10GbE.

Synology talks about the Btrfs file system, which uses the most advanced storage technology. It helps protect files from damage and reduce maintenance costs with optimized snapshots.
