From September 2020 Google introduces a 100% mobile-first serch results
Today 70% of sites from Google search results have already been “switched” to this type of indexing. The search engine will conduct the final translation to mobile-first indexing for all sites that are already ready for this change.
Please note that after switching the domain to mobile-first indexing, first of all, increased Googlebot activity begins to be observed, and in the search system the mobile version of the site becomes available. Changes take effect over time, depending on your domain name.
As soon as the transition to mobile-first occurs, periodically your site will still be checked with Googlebot for desktop devices, however, the main scan will still be performed for the mobile version of the resource.
How to check if your site has been converted to mobile-first indexing?
This can be done in the Search Console using several methods. For example, the status of the transfer to the new mode is displayed on the settings page. Also in the tool for checking URLs when checking specific pages, you can find the necessary information.
It is recommended that you check the desktop and mobile versions of your site. First of all, they should include the same content:
content, including textual information, pictures, videos, links,
metadata (title and description tags, robots meta tags),
structured data.
Perform a particularly thorough check if you recently redesigned the site.
Google recommends responsive web design for all new sites. Separate mobile URLs (m.) Are not recommended, as it is in these cases that often caused problems on the part of users and search engines.
