What to do if IPv4 is blacklisted?

The situation when letters ceased to reach your recipients is not the most pleasant and causes a lot of trouble. The most common reason for this is getting IP into the blacklist (IP blacklist or blocklist). In this article, you will read tips on how not to get blacklisted and make mailing list as safe as possible for customers.

Not a single company is safe from getting into the Spam folder. Open your inbox and you will probably see letters from well-known companies in the Spam folder. Even if you send news on a subscriber base, your IP address can still be blacklisted. It is impossible to completely eliminate the possibility of getting into spam, but these risks can be significantly minimized.

Take care of the reputation of the IP address

Each IP address has its own “trust” rating. If it is very low, then accordingly and more likely that the newsletter will fall into spam. For different mailings, for example, business, personal, for clients, use different IPs so that there is no situation when you at once lost contact with all addresses. To do this, you can order the service of a dedicated IP address from your hosting provider.

Use a trusted domain

The temptation to do the mailing from the free mailbox is very high, since the possibility of getting your IP blacklisted after such mailing is especially high. The most reliable way to register your domain is to attach the name of the company or organization. It is also necessary to sign the domain with the special keys DKIM and SPF.

Indicate the real name for sending letters.

A letter from an ordinary person will receive more responses than from a robot. Recipients should be able to answer your letter and forget once and for all about the phrase “no-reply”. Messages from robots are mainly sent to the spam folder. If you still need to use the stub address, then make sure that it contains a name.

The recipient should be able to unsubscribe from your newsletter

In no case should you hide the link to the opportunity to unsubscribe from the recipient. It should be noticeable at a glance. It is also important that when you click on it, the user will be automatically unsubscribed from the newsletter without additional filling out questionnaires or entering data (login and password).

Proper formatting is the key to successful mailing

Your letters must be formatted according to the RFC 5322 and HTML standards. You should not copy text from Word directly to mail, because in HTML format it will not display correctly. This will primarily affect the dots and quotes. No need to use bright colors and backgrounds and large pictures with a minimum of text. This is not liked by users and spam filters. Therefore, be very careful when filling out your letters.
