According to research firm Sandvine, there is a worldwide change in the structure of network traffic: the share of video content increases significantly in all regions. According to the analytical report, video streaming already accounts for more than half of all traffic on the Internet (it accounts for 57.7% of incoming and 22.4% of outgoing traffic). At the same time, the largest sources of video traffic are BitTorrent, Netflix, YouTube, as well as streaming services and social networks. According to Xelent experts, the tendency is explained, on the one hand, by the increase in network speed: file transfer is getting faster, which allows users not to download files, but to consume high-resolution video content online. On the other hand, with the development of video surveillance systems, the volume of office video traffic, which is produced by CCTV systems and the IoT devices, is increasing. All this, in turn, stimulates the development of new data storage systems and an increase in network capacity.

The report confirms two trends: first, the predictions about the impact on this growth of video traffic come true in full.
