Indian provider laid trunk cables to Singapore and Italy
Indian telecommunications giant Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, which provides communications services under the Jio brand, intends to lay two high-capacity submarine Internet cables that will help satisfy the country's growing appetites for traffic consumption.
One of the cables was named IEX, or India-Europe-Express. The starting point will be Mumbai: the line will pass through the Middle East and North Africa, reaching Italy. The connection points will be located in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece. The second cable is called IAX - India Asia Express. The starting point is Mumbai, the ending point is Singapore. This line will pass through the Asia-Pacific region. The Maldives, Bangladesh, Myanmar, etc. were named as possible connection points.
The capacity of the new lines will be up to 200 Tbit / s. The IAX channel is planned to be launched in mid-2023, the IEX channel - in 2024. The lines will provide support for such popular services as 5G communication systems, distance learning and teleworking platforms, the Internet of Things, etc. As we can see, India and the Middle East are becoming growth points for Internet users.
