Should providers develop cloud services?

Should providers develop cloud services?

World vendors are ready to place and already place any systems in their clouds, including those developed by Russian companies. Moreover, truly unlimited possibilities open up before customers. For example, users of the Azure cloud in Russia can gain access to foreign resources as well.

Most quickly, cloud services penetrate highly competitive industries. In Europe, it is retail, manufacturing and the financial sector. In addition, according to Mikhail Kozlov, even those customers who, for security reasons, are not yet ready to place their data in the cloud, can use it to develop new applications and then transfer them to a private cloud. And here, vendors are ready to provide not just appropriate technologies, but also consulting in the field of application development in microservice architecture, their transfer to a private cloud, and so on.

In addition, Oracle is ready to place a piece of its public cloud in the customer’s data center. This allows the client to store information at their own facilities, but transfer all the cloud management problems to the vendor. Another task that Oracle successfully solves is the commodization of traditional services using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, that is, the maximum automation of the deployment of services, the provision of services, and the adoption of business decisions using AI. Another possibility is the provision of a high-performance computing service that is difficult to organize on our own infrastructure.

volumes are growing rapidly, and with it the need for analytics is growing. At one time, companies actively created structured data repositories, but experience has shown that no more than 20% of them are actually used. The time has come for Hadoop, and then Data Lake. However, the creation of a full-fledged “data lake” requires at least 6 years, it is expensive and not always justified. Today's trend is the Data Platform, the data to which is supplied using connectors from a wide variety of sources, is being processed quickly and is beginning to bring business benefits. Especially in demand are the Customer Data Platform and IoT Data Platform, which allow to enrich and process data about customers or the Internet of things.

Several of these platforms only work in the cloud, such as AWS or Google Cloud. In this case, the cloud provider provides data storage, provides unlimited scalability and provides high reliability. Dmitry Lazarenko gave several examples of using the Data Platform and statistics indicating that this path is more effective. Thus, the total cost of ownership is reduced by 57%, and return on investment occurs in 8 months.

Influencing the market and new trends in energy management. Among them are the integration of distributed generation and infrastructure for electric vehicles, active network management, IT / OT integration and data management, and increasing cyber security requirements. He talked about the solutions that Schneider Electric offers. These are control systems for microgrids, energy management services, cybersecurity projects, augmented and virtual reality, as well as cloud infrastructure.

SaaS Trend: What Remains of IaaS by 2021?

The final discussion of the conference was attended by representatives of development companies. They discussed the influence of clouds on their business and the prospects that arise in front of him in this regard. According to the head of the Kaspersky Lab's threat research department, his company is interested in making products and their updates reach the user as quickly and easily as possible. They should be installed automatically, without the need for a complete reinstallation on each workstation, and this can only be done using clouds. Also in the cloud is the console for managing all Kaspersky Lab products, which turned out to be very popular. In recent years, Kaspersky Lab has been developing SaaS solutions, for example, to protect against fraud. In addition, anti-virus databases are being tested in public clouds.
