Community based organizations require ICANN to supplement domain use requirements
The ICANN Non-Commercial Stakeholders Group (NCSG) has asked ICANN management to submit three items to the .ORG Registration Agreement after it has been sold to Ethos Capital.
Here are three points:
1) In the event of any price increase, the domain owner receives six months to renew his domain for up to twenty years. This function should be used by all registrars who sell domain names in the .ORG zone.
2) The domain management of .ORG should take a neutral position with respect to domain content. It should not block domains for political, cultural, ethical, personal or other reasons, even if their content they believe contains false information or is rude or aggressive.
3) The .ORG zone should not use the URS (Rapid Domain Stop) procedure, as the URS was created for new domain zones and can only be applied to them.
Domain industry experts are not happy about this, as they believe the only correct action in the interest of non-profit organizations is to cancel the sale of the .ORG zone. And other points are also doubtful. Being able to get money for a 20-year registration will only make Ethos Capital even more commercially successful. And the complete lack of content control in the absence of a URS procedure will cause the .ORG zone to move all marginal, and possibly outright, illegal content that is blocked in other zones.
